Is it normal normal for minority guys to call other guys "bro"?

We have high turn over at work. Some of the new guys coming in, mostly Hispanics and Blacks have a custom of calling me, and the other white guys "Bro". It seems a peculiar custom to me. I mean, I feel like we're all brothers, except for the girls of coarse, so it's redundant to say that. It's like addressing me as person or fellow human.

Just curious to know what does it mean to you when somebody calls you "Bro?" If you are one of those who uses that term, what do you mean by it instead of calling me by my name?

Olly use it for friends who I consider like a brother. Not just anyone is a bro to me.

It's a common nickname given to people that are friendly male acquaintances (ex. Dude, Bro, etc). Women have their own set of default nicknames as well (ex. Sweetie, Hun, etc). It's nothing to worry about or overthink.

it's the same thing as calling you "friend" or "buddy". it's a term of endearment in a non sexual way lol.

If another white guy called you "bro" you wouldn't care but because it's a minority guy you think it's strange. That is racist.
