I made a similar post about a month ago about my sister and her height advantage over me but it wasn't exactly about that. So basically I would like to know why my younger sister (recently turned 14) is taller than me (almost 17). Yes I am a guy, so why is she taller than me? We are both into sports, I played football and soccer and she plays hockey and basketball. I was taller than her until she got into middle school, where she ended up growing about a foot. Is there any genetic reason for this? It just really bugs me that she's 14 and she has passed me in height, even though she still probably has 3 years of growing, it's even worse because when we fight like normal siblings do, she wins almost everytime these days.

      Well can you explain a bit? My dad is taller than my mom and from what I know there is no genetical reason for this to be happening

    It's genetics. And, if she's only 14 and developing, you can make your physical fights much more fun..Use her growing body for your pleasure, and, against her..This can be great for you.

    If you have short ancestors and tall ancestors the genes can express themselves in various combinations... Sounds like your sis got tall genes and you got short genes. I had two very tall grandfathers and two short grandmothers.. My dad got his mum's shortness, and my mum her dad's tallness.. I ended up with the tall and my older brother with small.

    Of course that isn't normal. I personally don't know anybody who has had this situation before. You better not get into any fights with her or she could actually beat you lol

      Really? Nobody? And yea that is already an issue. You see when we were younger I used to pick on her a lot when she annoyed me and I always easily won if we actually got into a physical fight. Well back a few months ago, I underestimated her and still thought I could get my way with her. So I snatched her phone away from her while she was sitting on the couch and put it behind my back so she couldn't reach it. She sat there and screamed Give it back really loudly, like usual. I just laughed and said no. She said Fine and stood up infront of me. This was basically when she passed me in height so I wasn't used to looking up at her. She put her arms around my waist and lifted up, launching me into the air in her arms. It was over right there, I got really scared and put my arms around her shoulders so I wouldn't fall, dropping the phone on the couch. She put me down after like 1 minute of just holding me there.

        Wow that is really embarrassing.. I'd hate to be in that situation? How can you live knowing your little sister is bigger than you and can kick you ass anytime she wants?

    Well that's weird because brothers are usually always taller than sisters because of how genetics works. Siblings who have the same genes, the guy would be taller than the girl 99 percent of the time because given the same DNA it would express height differently based on gender. I heard somewhere that younger siblings grow up to be taller than older siblings, but I don't know why exactly, or even if it's true. I actually know a brother and sister just like you guys, and the girl is about two inches taller than the guy even though he is 5 years older. He even used to do karate and swimming and she never did sports and she's still taller. It just doesn't make sense.

      Yeah I know it's so weird. I'm almost done High School now and I'm a bit below the average height at 5'7, she's still in middle school and i think she's 5'10. She still has a bit of time to grow though and could reach 6'0.
