Is it normal my parents make me pay for everything?

I'm 20, I'm the youngest and only female of two older brothers. They're both in their mid-twenties. Ever since I've had my first job at 16, my parents have made me pay for rent, bills, food and household items. I am not enrolled in college at the moment. I pay $600 in rent including bills each month. Another $200 goes towards food and household items a month. Aside from that I have my own separate bills to pay such as phone bill, transportation etc. My brothers on the other hand, who live in the house, earn much more than I ever earn in a month and they pay nothing at all. Their excuse is that they're saving up to buy their own house sometime in the near future. Yet, they've already purchased their own cars, electronics, brand named clothing, etc. My parents don't see this as being unfair when I confront them. They think they're not charging me a lot of money. I've tried moving out but no one takes me seriously once they know I'm only 20, I haven't established any credit yet and I apparently don't make enough to rent a studio. Is this normal amongst families?

It's certainly not normal in typical American culture. Are you first generation?

Tell them you want to save up to buy your own house in the near future, just like your brothers. It sounds as if they're treating you differently because you're a girl and that's just idiotic and unfair.

    That sounds awful.
