Is it normal my parents dissaprove of my ex cuz he can't provide a 'future'?

Is it normal that my parents disapprove of my ex-boyfriend because he can't provide me with a 'future'?

He's never had a job as he's been suffering from depression for a long time.

I'm 29, he's in his late 30s. I've been with a lot of people that I have absolutely no interest in and I know that he's different. He's someone I want to spend the rest of my life with. We're just friends now but we still really want each other.

If I was your mum I would not approve that my daughter is planning her future with a guy who suffers from depression. I understand them and in my opinion they are right.

Your parents are just looking out for your best interest. Personally I don't blame them for disapproving, he's in his late 30s and never had a job, you have to wonder where his life is going.
