Is it normal my neighbors listen to me eat?

I was eating cereal and after an uncomfortable feeling went through the air I heard stomping right above me with every munch, as if they had gotten up out of their chair to let out their anger at me. They also jump above me in the kitchen as soon as I turn on the water in there to wash dishes. Are they jobless and have nothing better to do? Maybe. Is this very annoying? Definitely.

    Unfortunately, annoying neighbors in apartments are normal. The only thing you can do is save enough to move out. As a kid my family constantly moved. Some of the places had the weirdest neighbors. Everything was noise to some of them.

    Save up and buy some nice wireless headphones; enjoy them until you can move out.

    I rather doubt they can hear you, perhaps your neighbors are just habitually noisy people who stomp about without any awareness that it's noisy.

    Just how loud do you crunch your cereal? If it can be heard in the apartment above you I think you should try for the Guinness Book of Records!

    Seriously, I think you're imagining this, but maybe not the water because that can make a noise going through all the pipes in the building

        If I were you, just to rule out over sensitity on your part, get a friend to be there next time you're chewing and see what they observe about the people upstairs.

          I've actually had 3 different friends listen and they've heard my neighbors being ridiculous, and I even brought over the lady who dyed my hair last month and even she thought they were weird. It's essentially stalking only less serious.
