Is it normal my mom is really that irritating?

My mom does several things that completely derail my nerves! She never settles down and is always pacing and talking a lot while I'm trying to watch a show or movie I like and even when I try to watch it with her, she will get up and start walking in front of the screen and talking! The longest she ever sits or rests for is 5 minutes at a time. Her average is 2 minutes!

Sometimes she's a bit much so I need a break from her and go to relax in my room. She comes right in and starts talking a lot and walking around my room!

Then whenever she borrows something from me, it always goes missing for days. And usually she does this without permission.

She's extremely opinionated and sometimes she talks trash about my best friend after she leaves and heavily critiques my boyfriend after he leaves. Even after she asked him to buy like 7 things for her and he did.

She gets irritable and moody out of the blue whenever we've been getting along and it's as if she doesn't WANT to get along. We will be having a fun day where we didn't argue whatsoever all day then all of a sudden I'm an idiot/whore/bitch/whatever.

At family gatherings, she never stops talking about me and making fun of me. I'm getting quite sick of her. Is it normal?

Yeah. I couldn't live with your mom. I suggest you move out while you're still sane.

Your mom is not normal, but your irritation with her behavior is quite normal indeed.

I wish you had clarified your question in regard to what is normal so we could better answer. Your mom's behavior is not normal, but your irritation with her is. If you are an adult, then in my opinion, you should make every effort to move out of her home - even if it means renting a room out of someone else's home.

Hahahahaha!!!!! OP asked if it was normal that her mom was that horrible. Read the title. Fail!

True enough! I did realize that she probably had included it in the title - after posting my comment and shutting down my computer. At my age, I don't remember what was in the title after wading through a longish post - I just remember the question posted at the end, i.e., is it normal? Unfortunately, I didn't think to go back and reread the title before posting. So yeah - fail! LOL

It's normal for you to get sick of it but your mom seems to be suffering from hypertension PR high blood pressure. If she is trust me it's painful for her too. I believe if you help her with it your issues will be solved.
Hypertension is not uncommon these days and it takes place because of stressful lifestyle. If you will see a doctor it can be easily diagnosed.

    • She has a regular doctor because she has hyperthyroidism. But thanks.

        I see.
        According to wikipedia-
Some of the symptoms of hyperthyroidism include nervousness, irritability, increased perspiration, heart racing, hand tremors, anxiety, difficulty sleeping, thinning of the skin, fine brittle hair, and muscular weakness—especially in the upper arms and thighs.

It is worse than hypertension. You should look it up on the internet as what you have described about your mom is caused by Hyperthyroidism.

        • True. But she takes her meds and goes to all her regular checkups. It's not like she just sits around our apartment untreated. So I never see most of those symptoms you're mentioning. Only the irritability and anxiety.
