Is it normal my girlfriend's dad wanted her to break up with me over this?

A few months ago my girlfriend's mother passed away, and I drove her from the college to her home so she could be with her family. I had to just drop her off and go back because I had class the next day but I came back to see her that weekend for the funeral.

Anyways while this was going on I had a school project with my group consisting of my girlfriend and 2 other girls. I found out later that because i had this project with 2 other girls, her dad tried to get her to break up with me, while she was home because he kept insisting that since she wasn't at the school I would cheat on her with the 2 girls in my group.

I was shocked when I found this out, even more so because I then asked her if he tried to break us up during the summer we were apart and she said no.

is it normal for my girlfriend's dad to try to break us up over this?
