Is it normal my friend thinks a stranger is a gypsy sailor?

He's got absolutely nothing to go on about this, but there's someone who lives across the road who calls himself an energetic gypsy sailor, and this friend just believes him. Sometimes he'll nickname him Energy as a result - he's always running around and complaining to us about too much eye contact.
is it normal I'm so cynical? How can you trust what somebody says about themselves? He doesn't look rough. Have you ever judged?

    Huh? Does he have white hair and beard? If so perhaps it is me. Where are you? Maybe my "old timer's disease" is worse today than I thought. Where are we? Honestly, I'm not in Grenada? Are you sure? Really, really sure??? uh? huh? Oh gee. Damn, I THOUGHT I was in Grenada. My area code is 473, isn't that Grenada? No? Gee, I'm sorry. uh, what were we talking about again? Your neighbor said what? Uh, gee. duh.

    Boat will be parked on land next month, but that will be in Trinidad not Grenada. Are you certain I'm not in Grenada? Really, I'm where? She needs a bottom job (go ahead children, make funnies on THAT, why don't ya) Then there actually will be an across the street. Until then, not so much.
