Is it normal my friend puts women on pedestals?

My friend will meet a woman and think about her, a lot. The more he thinks about her, the more perfect she becomes. Its as if he wants her to be that way.

And these women are not very attractive, are usually overweight, are not interesting, do not act like themselves, and say very little. He makes them into a goddess. He doesn't know them at all, and fantasizes what they are like.

Why does he do this? Is it normal?

    I think he has a fettish. The women are unattractive, and I think he thinks he has a chance with them because of low self esteem.. I do not like him in "that way". I wanted to show him this post, so he could get a reality check.

      I think you're probably right, but have you told him what you think? Sometimes that's a friend's duty rather than asking strangers on the internet.

      On the other hand, it's great for fat unattractive women to have others think they're beautiful, because in fact a lot of use are: you don't have to be skinny and gorgeous to be seen as beautiful by someone who's not totally superificial and immature. Look around you, do stereotypically beautiful or handsome people seem to have better relationships? No, because they're just people like the ordinary or "ugly" people.

        I have never posted anything about pedestals, and this is about my friend who is a man, and I am a woman. I am just worried about him. He is out of step with himself and it is sad.
