Is it normal my father punishes me in boxing

I am 20 year old and since I was 4 if my father had to punish me it was always a boxing match against him that I never won. I never had any serious injury during our matches but his punches have always been painful.

Those punishments always had a fair reason like the last one was for crashing his car a week ago. I was given two choices either have a match with him or be a coward and leave the house. I was given two days to decide or prepare.

I opted the match and was beaten down and humiliated for being weak, coward and careless.

I am one of the best boxers in my gym and my father is one of quickest technical player. (you throw a punch and you eat one before you make the guard kind of quick). So I never won a match against him.

is it normal that my father punishes me this way? My trainer says that I am good at boxing because of my father. Everyone at my gym agrees with my father's way of punishing me.

Don't worry someday you'll kick his ass!
    :-)

Is it normal that this reminds me of an episode of Always Sunny in Philadelphia where Frank trains Sweet Dee to fight his rival's daughter and they "accidentally" cripple both the old guy and his daughter?

Normal ! Ask your father to give atleast 4 options when you do something wrong like that. Well, whom does audience cheers during the match?

I think the words you're looking for are "child abuse", not boxing.

Your Dad is dumb. Get out as soon as you can. There are better, smarter people in the real world.

That's too much. Do you by any chance have a lot of bruises while typing this post? That's bad.

    • No it's not that much... I hurt all night on my face and abdomen.. but it still hurts my respect. I guess I could win before my old man gets too old to box.

Your old man got issue. He lacks parental skill obviously. You poor guy. I wish he learned his wrong doing someday. Hope you get better from the wound one day.

In 16 years you haven't learned to take the old man? You must be pretty damn slow with your fists or your wits.
