Is it normal my family are not academic at all, but i am

We are SO different. My parents and older sibling left school with the bare minimum. Meanwhile I'm on my way to university. I don't know why I've ended up so different. I like school for the most part, and I love learning. I always want to discuss things and ask questions but they're never interested, which saddens and isolates me. I've never really known anything other than wanting to do my best, work my way up and be successful, so I don't understand them.
I also wish to be a writer, and indeed write a lot as a hobby. Again, I don't know how this happened, since I receive no encouragement and none of them have picked up a book in ten years.

Some peeps are just different. What you're interested in sometimes just isn't connected to what your family is into. It is a lonely path, yes, but you'll be better off with peers who also understand your enthusiasm for education who are also into it. It's kinda sad, but sometimes that's just how it is.

Good for you. You will do better in life than they will. Perhaps your Mother fucked a professor for a "grade adjustment".
