Is it normal my ears are ringing..... -constantly- ?

Whether it's quiet or not, I hear a constant ringing in my ears.

I found the tone to be about 14khz, or maybe a little higher. Click below to listen to what I hear...all the time.

When I get frustrated or mad, the tone changes from a constant, to a pulsing sound, nearly matching my heart beat.

I do have some hearing problems, but why the constant ringing? It's driving me insane!

Thanks, I had to Google that, and found some interesting information on it.

I'm hoping it's being caused by a brain tumor, that may explain why I am...the way that I am. I have enough other mental, psychological, marital, and financial issues, and now this ringing, may just put me completely over the edge.

44 years old. While I do have some hearing problems, I'm not certain that is the cause of it.

I'm researching if -major- stress can cause it. It seems I have lost nearly everything, and now I am going to lose what's left of my mind.

I turn up the music, or TV to an 'annoying' level, and I can still hear it. The ringing is nearly deafening when it is absolutely quiet, and I fear it is driving me insane.

I ask how old you are as I suspected you might be in the age group who might have been to a few Rock concerts, music too loud type thing.

It is very easy to damage your hearing, and a common way to do this is by listening to music too loudly, often without realising.

Whilst I don't suffer from Tinnitus myself, I don't hear as well as someone who has not been in a noisy environment. So my hearing has been damaged by a combination of loud music and a life of working in noisy places. For example I was deaf for 3 days following a Black Sabbath concert back in 1978 or '79.

Anyway, Tinnitus can also be caused by the same thing, a good friend who has been in the music biz all his adult life has Tinnitus, so perhaps yours happened in a similar way?

How do you deal with it?!

I can't even relax in silence anymore, the ringing will nearly take me over.

It helps to drown it out just a little, with a tv, music, fighting kids, barking dogs, and cars driving by, all at the same time. I'm finding it difficult to even concentrate.

It must be in both ears, because it sounds like it's in the middle of my head. I really didn't notice it until almost two months ago, or at least not being this intense.

I guess my rockin younger years finally caught up with me! That, and many of my jobs were noisy.

Yea, I've been to my fair share of rock concerts, but unfortunately haven't been to one in the last 15 years. I've worked in welding/fabrication the last few years, until about 6 weeks ago.

It seems to have gotten more apparent, and/or worse, since I've been out of work.
