Is it normal my dryer eats socks and thongs?

I often lose socks in my dryer, and chicks lose thongs as well. I don't lose larger stuff like towels or shirts or pants. Chicks don't lose granny panties in my dryer either. What actually happens to these clothes? I have looked in the exhaust pipes from the dryer to the outside and they're not there. If they burn up wouldn't other clothes have burn residue? It really makes no sense. Where the fuck do these things go? I don't understand.

    How do you know they're not getting lost in the washer? Do you count them before putting them in the dryer? I know repairmen find lots of stuff in the insides of the appliances.

    I looked. The door seal has no room for anything but a bit of lint and i cleaned that. I just don't understand.

    That is not a big space, i clean the lint out but have never found any of them in the door sill.

    The thongs are probably in the back seat of some dudes car.

    As for socks I have solved this riddle. You don't wash all your clothes at once so when you do the first load, one sock from a pair is in there but the other isn't. So you toss the non paired sock. On the second load you do the same thing. Throwing out the match to the first sock you threw away.
