    Some cats do this on purpose to annoy you. It's a game to them. My parents had a cat who would immediately jump on any chair at the table just vacated, and you could tell he thought it was fun even though he knew he'd be made to get down as soon as the person returned to the chair.

      My cat gives me the look when he wants me to sit or lie down so he can get in my lap.
