Is it normal my brother drinks every weekend?

So my brother (he's age 20 - i'm in the UK and the legal age for buying alcohol here is 18.) goes out out drinking every weekend without fail. Friday and saturday night.

His drinking habits have caused him multiple injuries and a DUI (driving under the influence) which he's yet to get his driving liscense back from.

More often that not he'll start drinking friday night, and drink during the morning/day of saturday and saturday night.
Both weekends, he either doesn't come home or comes home and passes out occasionally accompanied by puke.

It's been like this since he's been 17 (at which point he used a fake ID to get into night clubs) which would make it 3 years of drinking every weekend.

IIN?

Normal for many teens nowadays... Still, he is an alcoholic and if he does not "grow out of this" he should get help...

He needs help. I think an intervention may be in order.

"he is 20" I stopped reading there . A lot of young guys that age are drinking every weekend . It's not the best choice but he wont stop until he is ready and mature enough to . I like having drinks but the DUI scenarios and such are definitely not good . I think you should bring it up gently .

Of course it's not normal. But if you are asking what you can do about it, unfortunately the answer is; nothing. The best you can do is not enable this behavior, but until your brother decides HE'S ready to do something about it, he can not be made to do anything.
Read up on it on the AA web site and speak to those folks. That will at least help YOU to understand his problem.
    Good luck.

    It's normal, but not healthy.
