Is it normal my bathroom scale says i weigh 6 pounds more?

On my doctors scale, he says I'm 6 pounds lighter than I am on my scale at home.

At one of my relative's homes, I am 5 pounds lighter.

I don't know which one is accurate!! IIN??

I also had this problem. Except my scale said I weighed less than the one at my doctor's office. I found out my scale was wrong because it was a cheap one. I don't know if anyone mentioned this already since I didn't feel like reading all the comments on your post, but besides your weight fluctuating throughout the day, the surface that the scale is on can also effect what it says you weigh. Make sure it's on a hard floor and not carpet or a rug.

The most accurate scale is probably the one at your doctor's office.

Buy a brand new scale and only weigh yourself first thing in the morning before you've eaten anything. You'll get a more accurate reading that way.

You're lucky, I'm usually heavier in front of my doctor! :(

Weight fluctuates throughout the day. Weigh yourself in the morning after doing your bathroom business to get a good reading.

Let me guess. You're a woman.

You are not very smart if you can't figure this one out for yourself, but I'll help you out. If you buy a tool to use once in a while around the house, are you going to spend hundreds of dollars on a professional quality tool, or just what you need to spend to get the job done?
Does the scale in the doctor's office look ANYTHING at all like the scale in your bathroom or your "relative's homes"? Wouldn't you imagine that the doctor would spend the big bucks on a very accurate scale, whereas you and your relative probably spent less than $50.00?
    I sure hope that helps.

    • Sometimes I read a response from a condescending asshole that really makes me wonder what issues the poster has within himself.

Who is OP hurting by asking this question? How does it offend you? It may seem simple to you, but obviously, OP thought it might be an interesting topic of conversation.

Do you feel like a bigger man belittling this person? Seriously. Why would you be so angry? smh

Do you honestly think this was a particularly interesting topic of conversation or just a stupid post? I'm really sorry if my response offends you, but I think the OP did a marvelous job of belittling himself, without any help from me. I don't know what smh is, by the way.

        • I don't remember giving my opinion on how interesting the topic is. Read again...nope, I didn't.

You typically struggle with important details when you read, as evidenced in one of our previous conversations, so I'll forgive your obvious impediment.

My only issue was why something like this would possibly make someone, even an asshole with a below average IQ, go out of their way to express their distain for someone who asked such a harmless, simple question.

What did OP say that deserved insults? Did he or she cause harm to someone, belittle a subculture or nationality, or go out of his or her way to degrade another human? No? Then work on your own issues. You're obviously a bitter, angry person.

There was no reason for that. If it's a boring topic to you, click "next" and move on. OP did nothing do deserve your insults.

          smh is Shake My Head.

Talk about a condescending jackass who can't read; I asked you for your opinion on how interesting the topic is, so I'll forgive your obvious impediment.
I admit I struggle with stupidity and you are beginning to be a struggle.
Anyway, why is it so important for you to stick your nose into this. Or do you consider the OP too stupid to stick up for himself, but just can't bring yourself to say it openly? How about you let the OP fight his own battles and you fight your own?
You make a great deal of assumptions for someone who has only been around for a few weeks. Unless you have been lurking for a year or so, you do not know me at all, sweetie.

            • I've been lurking around for a couple of years. I just recently joined because I wanted to help someone whom I could offer some life experience to. Does the length of time one has been a member of this site give more weight to their words? This is the high school cheerleading squad now?

You worded a question with obvious implications. Anyone who's not a social retard could read that. You've been called out on it, so you're now splitting hairs to try to recover.

I stick my nose into any situation where I see a condescending asshole trying to humiliate someone who didn't ask for it. That's called integrity.

You still haven't answered my question. What made you so angry about this post? I'll repeat it:

"What did OP say that deserved insults? Did he or she cause harm to someone, belittle a subculture or nationality, or go out of his or her way to degrade another human? No? Then work on your own issues. You're obviously a bitter, angry person."

Answer that, or return to your mom's basement and pretend that you're a sailor, married to a young woman, sailing the seven seas as a free spirit...not needing to insult undeserving people on the internet who didn't ask for it.

Your doctor and relative both live on an extremely high mountain, explaining your lower weight.

  • Most bathroom scales aren't as accurate as the doctors. Also, doctors tend to weigh you with clothing on, adding several pounds, which would actually prove that your scale is even less accurate than it shows.

Your scale may have a feature that you can reset for accuracy. Like mountain man said, you should check if you can reset at zero, then see what it reads.

    • Also, your weight can fluctuate a lot just in water retention. Salt, sweat, and foods can all add or subtract a lot over the course of the day.

Besides it probably being a cheap scale, you also have to zero the scale, otherwise it will be off.

    • It was only $15...

If it was that cheap then it will definitely be off.
