Is it normal it's weird when users leave the chat without saying hello?

Like they were disappointed with who they saw and left. Hmmph!

What, I wasn't good enough for you or something?
You don't want to talk to me?
Fine! I don't want to talk to you either.
*sticks out tongue at you*

  • I've done that. I just don't know what to say. The conversation always looks pretty advanced, no small talk that I can jump in on, and it seems that people are making inside jokes and poking fun at each other because they're familiar with each other. I never really see any discussions, if I did then I could give input. But, alas, it always just seems like a closed group of friends messing around with each other.

It happens. What I never liked was the sort of response where people would logon, join the room of 3 or more people actively conversing, and the newcomer would announce that there was "no one there" and leave. That's plain rude. Just because the people you don't specifically want to talk to arent there, doesnt mean the people there are "no ones".

Oh dear, this is me all over!D: Sorry if I've ever done this to you, which is probable. I rarely use the Member Chat, but by some force of habit or something, I keep clicking the button and ending up there. I just have this weird thing where I want to see who's there. I never have any intention of staying and I'm usually out seconds later. It's nothing personal. I can't speak for other people, but maybe they're the same.:)

Although, I think my need for clicking is moving on to the Recently Commented On section. So sort of yay.:S

I have done that before. If I am looking for a specific person and they are not there, I will leave. I have also accidently clicked my way in there trying to go to 'my stuff'. In addition to that I have gone in there and didn't know anyone and thought the convo seemed lame, so I left. So, there are many reasons for this.

Bizarro world... say hello when you leave the chat
Say goodbye when you enter it

I do this quite often but just the other day, I decided to stay only to be told to leave anyway so whatev! Even more reason to just pop in to see who's there then leave. Usually I go in on my phone though and just start talking then get distracted with a text or something and forget I was even in the chat.

No it's more the other way around (people there are all friends and it feels weird to interrupt them)

When I first got the ok to use chat I went on and did exactly that. I didn't really know what it was, thing is I would love to go on there but I don't have a computer so i'm always on the 360 internet explorer and it takes so long to write something that I'd just annoy people on there. I am however going to buy a keyboard to plug into it so I can chat with you awsome people.

I didn't even know this member chat thing existed until I read this post.

I finally found it, but when I noticed that there was only one other person in the room I quickly left to avoid awkwardness.

I don't go in the chat, but when I used to frequent chat rooms I'd join, see if anything was happening, leave if it was quiet or the people were uninteresting. Why would you announce yourself to an empty room, or to a room full of people you don't want to talk to?

So I think it's perfectly normal.
