Is it normal it's stupid that vegans think...

that the entire world is able to become vegan? Now I'll admit right now that I'm not vegan and love my meat, however I'm not against vegans or their diet as long as they aren't criticizing mine when I didn't ask.

First of all I think the thought is stupid because some people don't have enough money to be able to go on a non-meat diet, for example people with low paying jobs, homeless people, people who are unable to work and live off of pensions that are barely livable, etc. There is also the thought of people who live in very poor countries or live very far away from most people or shops, I'll use my mother for this example.

My mother grew up in Albania, in a very rural town. They were always very poor, grew their own vegetables, and her older family members were forced to hunt animals in the winter due to being unable to grow anything during that time. The only way I can see the world becoming vegan is if world hunger is solved, which is obviously going to take a long time due to greedy and corrupt governments.

This leads me to my next topic, where vegans think stopping meat production completely and just growing grain/vegetables in there place. First of all, it's going to destroy native habitats of animals, due to having to destroy forests and other environments to make way for crop fields. Now I'm not saying the meat production doesn't do this already, as it does, however some vegans think planting grain is going to stop the destruction of wildlife? They either have no idea what farming involves or are very ignorant.

Relating to the above, with more crops and vegetables it will increase the use of pesticides and harmful chemicals to keep away insects or other things that may destroy a farmers crops.

Now onto another topic, animal abuse. This can and does happen in slaughterhouses, I'm not denying that, however not every single one of them tortures or hurts their livestock. Large businessess are usually the ones guilty, however small productions or farmers often treat there animals with respect and when the time comes kills the animals as quickly and painlessly as possible. For example, I don't buy my meat at grocery stores, I buy them from local farmers where I know what happens and how the animals are treated. I can safely know that the meat I eat doesn't come from a place where they throw baby chicks in a grinder or where animals are kept in a small space for all their lives.

Now for my last topic, health. Some people find it very hard to process protein in their bodies, meaning they need to eat meat as they cannot get the healthy amount of protein from a vegetable. Now obviously this condition isn't all too common in the population, however if the world turned vegan who would cater for them? It would be considered taboo to consume meat, meaning these people would be looked down on and harassed. With no meat production, where are they going to get their healthy amount of protein? It would be unfair to deprave them, causing their health to drop. I understand there are pills that help with protein deficiency, however you still need to eat protein as vitamin or protein supplements do not have the full dose of what an average human should consume, and usually only give 1/3 of your daily protein.

In conclusion, although a nice thought; the world becoming vegan is highly unlikely, and would still cause the same amount of destruction meat productions are causing now.

While it is the most ethical choice to go vegan-- let's not pretend that buying meat and dairy isn't supporting a system that enslaves and kills innocent animals, separating mothers from babies, etc.-- I can understand that it isn't a choice that is possible for everyone. I do not think a person is morally flawed for eating meat or dairy, because it is so normalized and often more readily available than a more ethical diet. (And, no matter what, it is very difficult to be entirely ethical. Lots of clothing, for example, is produced by workers receiving very low wages, almost working in slavery). Perhaps raising the minimum wage will have the added benefit of helping animals.

Don't group us all together like that. I'm vegan and I don't care what you eat. I'm all about animals getting eaten. Whether I eat it or not won't change that it happens

Everyone is able to become a vegan, that they do it in an unhealthy way is another problem.
