Is it normal is it just or the homeless problem is getting worse in america?

A lot of the unfortunates I have chatted with ,are normal people with kids who can't pay the sky high rents.Or older people who lost there homes because of the stupid housing crisis.I try to help when I can. I did a poll and talked to over 1000 people about the problem. You wouldn't believe the responses I received. Most people think they deserved it and don't think it will ever happen to them. Several people suggested we use tax dollars to buy tanks and have the cops do raids using pepper spray and rat poison. Or round up all the Homeless in concentration camps and gas them. Many people think homeless people should be ordered to pay a big fine and be incarcerated until they can pay it. They also think anyone who helps them should be jailed because they are enablers. Is this the norm ? Because This is not the America I grew up in? How about paying a living wage? How about not charging 2000 a month for a shithole , when the average person makes 10 bucks an hour. I have been to other countries like Italy, and England, none of them have homeless people lying all over the place.

Being homeless sucks. It sucks even more when people tell you you deserve to die everyday. Most people who judge the homeless have no idea what it is like. I am sure most of the users here will probably hate the homeless and want them dead as well. They will probably call anyone who defends the homeless libtards or whatever too. Pathetic and childish judgments.

Maybe there are more homeless visible in the US because there are less government departments and community organisations assisting them?

Homelessness is certainly increasing in Australia, the largest increase being in older single women, which scares me as an older single woman in private rental.

Do not worry, that guy is a tool anyways. You cannot talk to a person like him. You would get further talking to a piece of beach wood. The beach wood would be more enjoyable to talk to as well.

You may well be right: when I can be bothered responding to people like him, it's not because I expect to change him, I'm writing for the benefit of others who haven't made up their minds.

Is beach wood driftwood? I've never heard that term before

Yes, more losers are becoming homeless in America. This is because trickle down economics is now trickling down to China. Low skill jobs are done by illegal immigrants leaving few opportunities for Americans with poor skills and abilities.

Rather than face his immigration failures, Obama is blaming the upper classes who benefit directly from wealth created by production robots. We, the superior 1%, have already transferred liquid capital to numbered swiss accounts. We are exempt from congressional attempts to tax us because own the world. Our legal advisers will just work from our yachts that are in international waters. Liberal politicians have always been very ignorant of economic principles.

Definitely getting worse. I ride the train to work and in the morning the cars have stinky homeless sleeping in them, and the train conductors and cops don't do anything about it.

Most of the homeless I've had the misfortune to meet in the states were there pretty much because they didn't want to put in the effort to live like most other people. To me, it appears to be a lifestyle choice for the most part and isn't a problem that needs to be solved.

One thing I've noticed in the behaviour of colonials: they seem to look for problems so they can solve them and make themselves look good by doing so. So it isn't truly an altruistic action, it's extremely self-serving.

I do think if someone has truly hit a bit of bad luck they should be helped, but the way most government (and government) plans work, they cause new problems while attempting, and often failing, to solve old problems.

Ignoring mental health problems? Any if not most homeless are in that situation due to mental illness and associated problems.

If one is truly homeless it's awfully hard to show up for a job interview looking presentable. It's extremely hard to have a good CV and a phone number where one can be reached.
Even for those who would like to change their circumstances, it's damn near impossible, once you've reached a certain level. Just surviving becomes the priority, and it's not easy when the current national attitude is similar to yours.
Certainly there are plenty of bums out there, but all the homeless are not there by choice. As I see it, the biggest problem is getting the money to those who need it, not into the pockets of those who are responsible for getting it to them.

There are many agencies that actively engage in helping homeless people that want to be presentable at interviews and feed them. I've seen more than one homeless person with a mobile phone. How that works when they don't have the money for other important things is a mystery to me, yet regardless, the lack of a phone number is apparently not the problem it might appear to be.

"The national attitude is similar to mine..."

What's interesting about this, is I stated quite clearly that my statement was based upon my own anecdotal experience. And as far as "national" which nation would that be? The last time I was in my home country and took a look about I didn't see any homeless people, so.... maybe you're looking at it from some sort of maritime point of view. It's hard to imagine what you must be referring to when you have no idea where I'm from, or where I've been.

So just because you are homeless it is not okay to own a phone? That phone is probably the only material possesion they have. It could have been a gift from an agency, family, a friend, or even a stranger. There are also Obama phones in the United States. Free phones for the needy. The phone gets only 250 minutes per month but is meant to help people in this situation so they have a contact for jobs and whatever family they have. You have obviously never been homeless. Just because a poor person has a nice item does not mean they are abusing the system. That is an ignorant frame of mind.

An ignorant frame of mind would be to see what I said as derogatory. The original assertion was the job finding was made increasingly difficult due to the absence of having a phone. I simply pointed out that the homeless not having phones isn't true.

I don't give a wet slap if a homeless person has a phone, or a bottle of bourbon, or a sack with cartons of cigarettes.

To get the idea that I have not been EVER been homeless from anything I've ever posted on this site is equally ignorant. In fact, had you been following along with the things I've posted you would know that I was born in poverty and somehow managed to find a way to lift myself from the cesspool. It was not easy, and I doubt that everyone could do it, but it can be done, as I did it. I've also managed to see a good deal of the world and this "homeless problem" seems to be largely limited to the United States. Strong family bonds in many parts of the world prevent it, effective social programs in other parts seem to mitigate it.

I don't know where you got your figures, but the US Average Hourly Earnings was $25.24 for Dec 2015. That's about 4k a month for the AVERAGE American worker. That should be around 8k a month for a two earner family.
No need to live in a shit hole unless you choose to, at that rate.

Haven't we had a chat about averages before? Do you still not realize that we are talking about a bunch of people who make $10/hr and those who make billions a year? It makes a false average.

50% of Americans make so little that they pay zero taxes, many getting a refund.

My husband makes right at the average (about 48,000 gross) but nets only 27,000.

          Wake up.

Take your bullshit and push it at the idiots like yourself, cause I'm so fucking tired of your broken record bullshit!
As for your stupid figures show proof, not made up bullshit, like "50% of Americans make so little that they pay zero taxes, many getting a refund." That is a LIE, asshole, A FUCKING UNFOUNDED LIE!

              http://www.mybudget360.com/how-much-do-americans-earn-what-is-the-average-us-income/

"The average US income is a less useful measure because it is skewed by high income households and mega income earners.  According to Social Security tax records for 2011 you have 93 Americans making more than $50,000,000 with average earnings of $79,000,000+.  Clearly this pushes the average much higher and that is why you see the average household income at $69,821."

There is some nuance to it, of course all people pay SOME taxes, however almost half pay no federal income tax. That is not a myth, it's fact. A large percent of those people actually make money via a tax refund.

              http://www.forbes.com/sites/rickungar/2012/09/19/the-real-truth-behind-the-47-percent-why-arent-these-people-paying-federal-income-taxes/#86b2dab4b773

And you're stupid if you don't know the difference between gross and net income. You think someone making $25/hr takes all that money home? Nope.
