Is it normal if im a bad host at my party but not for others?

I have this weird thing where for some reason when Im having a celebration for me like my birthday or something where I am the official attention, I shy away and become this really bad host of my own party. However, when its the other way, when its someone else's party or their time to shine, I'm a really good host for their celebration, i get pumped and ready to go! I'm like a really good party planner. Or lets say I'm in some type of competition to win, I really like grabbing the attention rather than the attention automatically given to me like a bday party. I would think Id be a better host at my party but instead, like I said, I get like shy and quiet. Is this normal? What could be the reason?

Everyone has fears that they will fail at something when it's about them being the center of attention. Especially weddings. Weddings are hell.

    • Yeah I can't wait to get married but the idea of being the center of attention scares the shit out of me. I can't mess up.

Maybe it's because deep down you know you're not supposed to throw a party for yourself. That said, I don't really like to be the subject of a party, especially don't like surprise b-day parties for me.

    • what do you mean like I feel like I don't deserve it? I don't think its that...I just get shy and I think its the pressure of officially being the center of attention.
