Is it normal if i want to avoid working at a desk?

I am interning in the music industry and it's cool to experience it all but at the same time I get to observe what everyone does and its not as fun or exciting as you think it would be. Everyone is always inside their office making calls emails just on their desk, etc. It looks and IS sooooo boring. Its kool to say "I work in the music industry" but its like any office job. Then i just wonder if the music industry has that to offer (it does depend exactly what department but I'm talking bout like a record label) then what industry provides you to literally make moves travel etc? Like on the field type of work. I don't wanna do production cause I suck at technology. I just don't want to go every fucken day for 8 hrs or more and sit down and possibly gain more calories. Its annoying and dreading. No fulfillment at all. So I'm trying to get a job that offers you a no desk job and more of a on the field job. Please be serious if u respond. Not gonna be a stripper.

Sometimes you have to be patient and work your way to the top.

I think that's a totally normal and understandable feeling, unfortunately I'm not sure what exactly the answer to your dilemma is. Personally I think if you feel like you're getting nowhere doing work you really hate, it's time to reconsider careers or maybe take up a side job and see where that goes.

You are either going to be someone's flunky at a desk or not at a desk in the music industry. Even as a big name producer for a big name label with a big name band, its all egos and personalities while in the studio, and hugs and kisses at the awards shows, then back to the egos and personalities in the studio.
There are plenty of occupations where you don't have to sit behind a desk, fewer where you aren't someone's flunky and fewer yet, where you get to play mostly by your own rules.
Its your life and you are young enough, you still have a choice, unlike most.

        • meh I feel like it won't give me any realistic information. I won't be surprised if I find "entertainment industry" or "music industry." It'll be a lie because I'm experiencing it right now. Not that IIN is a more credible site but gah I just need to know somehow.
