Is it normal if i stop doing things when they become trendy?

One of my biggest pet peeves is when something I love and have a passion for becomes trendy, popular, and basically a sell out. Once it becomes a trend, I still carry the passion for it but I refuse to put it put it "out there." Like lets say I loved wearing hats but then it becomes a trend and everyone is posting it on social media, wearing it all the time. If I were to post it as well, I feel like a follower even though Im not because I originally wore hats before. Even if people are getting paid to wear hats and show it on social media, sure I can take advantage of that opportunity because I love hats but something in me doesn't feel right about doing it cause I just feel unoriginal even though I am an original. Should I just go forward with pursuing it despite it being a trend and possibly making me look like a follower? or stick to my intuition and stay out of it? There's a few things I genuinely have a passion for and once i see it becoming a trend, I get all icky about it, maybe bitter but whatever its overall annoying.

Well if you feel your connection to that type of clothing is ruining your relationship with it due to other people then I would say it's just a temporary thing to like it but you might not care about it eventually.

If you do it the same way you always have, the "original" people will notice. There's a difference between wearing something for the trend and wearing what feels...like you. As well, you can wear an Atlanta Braves hat, for example, but trendy people might make it a flat bill or excessively try to keep it clean whereas if it's you, you would probably wear it with a curved Bill or maybe backwards and even if it was a little dirty because you like the hat and team. It's those little intricacies that real people see, assuming you want to be seen for genuineness. I can relate, though. I absolutely hate if I ever see someone with the same shirt as me, which is about 1% of the time. I'm just very careful in buying only what I know others aren't wearing and which feels like me without trying too hard to stick out. I buy simple, unique, plaid or collared shirts from thrift stores typically. Saves a lot of money, as well. Can't really tell what kind of trends you're referring to or your age, but if this happens that often to you, then maybe you still haven't hit your stride and found your zone

It doesn't matter what's trendy or not so stop worrying about it and wear what you like
