Is it normal i want to protect my is it normal friends from their antagonists?

Instead of standing by watching them be unfairly attacked by some jerk that thinks he's a champion for being an asshole to people online, I want to protect them and put that loser in his place. I don't care if I'm the one being attacked, I only care when people I like are being attacked.

It makes me so frustrated when people say things like "don't rock the boat" so that they have an excuse not to get involved. Screw that! How about it's not acceptable to stand by and watch your friends take it up the ass by people who are so narrow-minded and stupid they think their own opinion is the only opinion.

I don't like getting involved. 4
I will stick up for them only if I disagree with their attacker. 6
I'll have their back no matter what. 13
Huh? 11
Other. 4
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

On the by and by I will get a poster insulting me and sometimes I swear that they do not realize how stupid they are being. It's nice to know that I'm not alone in thinking that they are a dumbass, it does my heart good to see 2-3 other people calling them what I am thinking. I think it is a good slap on the wrist to users that come here thinking that this is a great place to show their internet balls without a bother.

Ahh internet balls... the biggest and most fallible that the world has to offer.

I have done, not in what I'd think of as a case of harassing anybody but when an argument grew what seemed to me to be too heated I would often step in. It generally didn't make anything better; instead of using it to patch up the dispute, the people fighting would take what I said and use it as ammunition against each other or to try and twist my arm into taking their side.

Better than the people who suck up to people online. Worst thing in this world is a snitch followed by a brown noser and then fake ass "im so tolerant" fuckheads who want a pat on the back.

As long as you can tell the difference between fair and unfair. As long as you can see when your friends are wrong and are just being set straight, or simply being challenged vs being attacked for no reason.

Your friend isn't everyone's friend either, maybe they've rubbed people the wrong way or other people find them dumb, so...??...keep that in mind.

I know people in real life who defend disgusting behavior and/or retardedness just because it's their 'friend' or family. That's not right. If you're doing that then you're just a mindless idiot and only hurting your friend, and making yourself look like a tool as well.

I'd say, stay out of it unless you are absolutely POSITIVE someone is harassing, trolling or being purposely mean for NO reason. So in other words, stay out of it 99% of the time.

I voted Other. and this is close to what i was thinking.

with the addendum that.... if they're being harassed online, why is your friend letting it happen? if it's online you can choose who you talk to.

So if your friend keeps talking back to them then... it's no longer unfair harassment. Not if he or she is choosing to stay. you can always block someone in an IM, or close a web page. but you have to choose to do it.

  • "His"? Why not add "her" in there, too? Maybe you are speaking of someone specific on here.

Nobody is forcing those people to reply or even read those comments. I myself have ignored quite a few people for being insulting, and I have been explained to be a narcissist by people on here, so if a narcissist can walk away from insulting people, so can that person. (Joking about being a narcissist, I'm not one).

      this.

You have a choice to stay on these pages. You don't have to read replies. And you can report people who are being abusive.

but if the OP's friend chooses to keep replying then... the OP's going to have a lot more work to do in "defending" since the friend keeps inviting more

Yeah, but usually when someone reports someone else, nothing usually happens.

That's because reporting a comment doesn't mean it will automatically be removed. It just means it will be reviewed.

Cos face it, some people just report because they dislike what someone else said... not because the other person actually broke any rules.

  • People really harrass each other on this site? And I dont mean like the "shut up dickhead" stuff, I mean actual concentrated harrassment? Isnt it just a waste of the person doing the harrassing's time?

I would find it hilarious if I had such an effect on someone, through a computer none the less, that they took large chunks of time out of their life and day to purposely seek me out to insult. Especially considering I wouldnt be insulted no matter what they said.

I can't really recall seeing any harrassment in the threads I've seen. People having disagreements sure, people arguing poorly sure, people overreaching with an arguement sure, but never anything I would really call harrassment.

I feel the same way! When someone say something mean about me I dont care but when they start to talk about my friends like that, its unforgivable! I cant stand it when people talk shit about my friends!

When ever I get harassed, I don't really "need" anybody to get my back, however, it is very nice to see that there are other people who agree with me out there. More of a confidence booster than a valiant rescue!

The way I see it, rarely people on here get harassed. Although I have seen it done before. However, the people who usually do get harangued can handle themselves. Besides, most of the people are probably just trolls. The ones that aren't really just have no life.

I believe that the people who are harassed virtually on here have the maturity to pity the sad user who spends his time tormenting others online.

    Thanks for the troll-tip.

I will now continue to insult the OP and ignore the comment when someone makes one defending the OP to pick a fight with me.
