Is it normal i want a nose job badly

ITs beginning to consume my thoughts from the moment i wake up now. I dont know when it just HIT me suddenly maybe the last 2 years or so, that I realized my nose is too big.

I love everything else about my face: Almond shaped, slightly slanted eyes, full lips..etc just my nose kills everything.

Its the first thing I see when I look at myself in the mirror. It affects my self esteem. I dont look people in the eye because Im afraid they will notice my nose. I dont speak chin up i prefer to hide from pictures because of my nose

Is such an obsession normal?

People what do you think about noses. Btw, before you begin to say otherwise, nearly all successful actors, models..etc have a "non large nose" and those who do eventually get a nose job.

For those who are unhappy with your nose, is it normal to desire rhinoplasty so bad that you are saving up moneyfrom your paychecks to afford one, and look forward to a beter future with a betetr nose?

Or am i over reacting? Help!

  • Usually plastic surgery becomes addictive like anything else. It makes people look like disgusting freaks a lot of the time. I think plastic surgery is good for people who are disfigured or need reconstructive surgery in order to look normal. Usually people who get plastic surgery are nit picking and look better before rather than after.

Ha are you serious? Your nose isn't even big. I've seen some gigantic noses with nostrils to match and that nose you got there is petite if not average sized.

I wouldn't be surprised if the plastic surgeon told you he doesn't see the problem.

You probably don't have a "big" nose, it's just that the media has become obsessed with tiny noses in the last few decades. Also, think of all the things you could buy with that money...travel, down payment on a house, a whole new wardrobe. Think of poor people who just want a meal and you want a new face.
I wanted plastic surgery a lot a year or so ago. I had found my ex-fiance cheating with a teenage girl and I had been sexually assaulted by a drunk marine and a so-called "friend" got mad at me for not accepting it. I felt my face was so ugly...
...but I was too poor to do anything about it so I rebuilt my life and found a man who loves me. Now I don't feel ugly and in need for medical improvement.

    • but see you were considering it too, AND the fact that you skipped the procedure is because you were never in a position that gave you the opportunity.
the question is would you have done it, if the door would have opened?

Maybe at the time, although I usually plan for quite some time before making a permanent decision. If I did, I would regret it by now. I think it's okay to look unique. Also, because I work in retail, I see really obvious looking awkward surgery results on customers. They think nobody can tell, but everyone can. I would not like to be the woman with the fake-looknig nose or the toally-fake tits.

I think if you have serious problem with your nose and it disturbing your life and holding you back you should look into getting a nose job. If its just the one feature its not unreasonable. But be careful and research good plastic surgeons and know that your life will not become perfect just because you have a perfect nose. Im not going to lie there are a lot of people who look good except for one minor feature and a lot of people do get nose jobs/chin work ear tucks etc.
Its easy for people to tell you to be happy the way you re but you are obviously not. Sorry if this sounds superficial but if changing your nose will make you more confident and improve your self esteem go for it. good luck!

    • yes! thank you. I was open to answers but this one is supportive of my thoughts.

people say its whats on the inside that counts, but lets be honest here.

people WILL notice and judge your exterior in a blink of an eye, in a second, subconsciously.

      Thanks!

Why can't you learn to love yourself? Find happiness in yourself, not from strange beauty standards. (I don't like tiny-weeny plastic surgery noses or even plastic surgery in general.)

    • no im not looking for an itty bitty nose that would disproportin my eyes and lips. ive seen those, they look cartoonish and fake. oh no

its just that my nose is almost the same "diameter" as my lips:/ it blows my face out of proportion

I'd try improving other aspects of yourself. Looks are one part of a person, and as long as you're not some sort of twisted freak-looking person they're not that big of a deal.

I think it's pretty normal to consider improving one's looks, but the question is; at what cost? Will this operation change your life as much as you think it will, or will you still find fault with your looks?
Are you doing this only for yourself, or is this a reaction to something others have said? And what happens if it doesn't go well? Are you prepared to live with those consequences?
You did not mention your age, which could be a factor, too.
All in all, I don't really think you will actually achieve what you are seeking with surgery. Accept yourself as you are. I seriously doubt that others see you nose as the huge detraction that you do.

    • no its based off my own realization of it. I also observe "universal' features in the most attractive persons known, even in "non person" characters that are widely popular: movie characters, dolls.

that smaller/even symmetric nose is undeniable. its right smack in the middle of your face

And i think it makes a lot of difference in your ability to look someone straight with more confidence.

oh and im 21 by the way

Is this normal? I mean yourself. im sure theres SOMETHING that you would want to change

Of course there are things about myself that I think detract from my looks (like a rather HUGE nose) but to actually go under the knife and change them, no way.
But more importantly, IMO, is your statement, "the most attractive persons known, even in "non person" characters that are widely popular: movie characters, dolls.". Let's break this down a bit so you can see it a bit more clearly. "The most attractive persons known"; to whom? Everybody has a different idea of what's attractive, right? Some consider Angelina Jolie super attractive, but I really do not see it. I'm much more a Jennifer Aniston kinda guy, but she's far from perfect, as well.
"Movie characters" are not real people. What you see there is a combination of lighting, make up and a script; not a real person at all. As for dolls, well that's just silly. Would you really like the proportions of a Barbi doll?
"that smaller/even symmetric nose is". One of the greatest parts of looking at human beings is their variety. None of us has symmetric features; even our legs and arms aren't exactly the same length.
Of course, you will do as you please, but I sincerely believe you are making a horrible mistake, and the time and energy you spend hating your looks, would be much better spent on accepting yourself and living your life as just you are.

Actually, plastic surgery is the last thing you want to do because it makes you worse. I think you should embrace it, crooked noses and big noses are just as sexy and you can always emphasize the other parts of your face. I'm sure it's not as big as it is. People tend to make things 10x worse than they actually are when they look in the mirror/at photos of themselves.
