Most questions on this site are weird sex questions and trolls are everywhere. Theres trolls on every site but theres barely any good answers on here. All are either racist, pervs, or assholes. I'm not being sensitive but I'm wondering if I'm the only person that notices.
Most people don't come here to give or receive advice but just to troll.
Sometimes this site can be helpful and sometimes not, at least in my experience.
I joined this site 6 years ago with my BigBrother account. It used to be great, people used to give amazing advice and we used to play around with each other and all. Private chats weren't gold exclusive, can't remember when the gold crap was introduced, probably 2011. There were great users like Pumpkin, Shuggy, Dapled, PopCorn, Gena, Neptunia and many others. In 2014 I quit this site cause of the comment karma crap, and after returning in 2016 I found I can't access my BigBrother account so made this account named after my favorite football player. But now I find that trolls have taken over this site, The Management abandoned it. Legitimate questions gets buried under troll posts, and trolls down vote any user they disagree with and up vote their infinite fake accounts. Advices on this site is now total crap!!!
That seems inevitable with just about any human community. What's really good never lasts--and not just because of perspective. Eventually purposely sadistic people arrive and take pleasure destroying things, hurting others. There's something rotten at the core of humanity.
Like all things in life, the best you can do is take from it what you can, and ignore the rest.
Yes, trolls abound, and it's normal on this site. I would like to humbly invite you to see the trolls as a resource of which you may take full advantage. Trolls can quite often be hilarious of course, but they are also an excellent source of practicing patience and learning to increase one's distress tolerance.
I feel like this also could have ended with 'but they are also an excellent source of protein.'
Very, very nice! I LIKE it! Dealing with willfully difficult people as a means to practice patience and build tolerance to unnecessary unpleasantness. :)
I've noticed about half the answers are decent. They may not be right, but they are well intended.
The other half are tolls.
Just requires the asker to apply some common sense, logic and a little discernment when considering the advice given.
I think your instincts/experiences are largely true. Something about the anonymity of the Internet encourages people to be dicks. We say things to each other we'd almost never say to one another in person, for fear of different kinds of reprisals. And I think a lot of people say hurtful things online purposely to make themselves feel better about their own life circumstances.
Last year in one of my classes we read this article by a Stanford professor about online trolling. Apparently, many people do take pleasure out of hurting other living things (animals, other humans...). One reason seems to be to escape boredom. Another is the empowering (to them) feeling of control over others. And still another is really a non-reason: just because they can--like a kid at a beach who destroys someone else's sand castle that took a lot of effort to build, just because she could.
I'd use sites like this one, IIN, for fun, not for serious inquiries. That's what trusted friends and family are for. Best of luck to you...
Depends on what you ask and who answers but yea alot times this is a very wrong place to get answers. Try to ignore the trolls it doesn't take long to figure out who they are.
This place wouldnt be so bad if it had better moderation. Because the mod(s) can't afford to manage the site, they let it go wild, leting in all the riff-raff as they sit at their computer, laughing at how stupid we all really are.
Advice about what exactly? Are you the only person that notices half the people here don't give advice? What are you seeking to know is normal?
