Is it normal i think the usa lets too many people vote.

The united states is not a democracy it is a republic, the way we've allowed everyone to vote simply for being there I think is ridiculous.
I'm not as concerned about local and state elections, but I think the voting rights should be more restricted for national elections.

Originally in order to vote in the united states you had to own a certain amount of land, the idea behind it was that because you owned this land here, you had some skin in the game and what effected the country meant more to you.
I don't think people should have to own land or have a certain amount of wealth to vote but I do like the sentiment behind the idea, of having to have something personal invested in the country.
That's why I believe that voting rights on the national scale should be restricted to those who have proven they care for the country by serving it. as soldiers. If you're not willing to defend your country why should you be given a say in how its run?

Don't you think that would lead to elitism? If only one group is allowed to vote, they would be able to control the outcome of every election. You aren't thinking this through.

    • It would lead to a certain amount of elitism but this isn't something you can just be born into it's something you have to work for and most anyone could get into.
It's not controlled by birth or wealth but rather by dedication to one's country.

Terrible idea, but what they should have is an IQ test, and/or a test of knowledge about the issues/candidates.

Hardly anyone votes now and you want it to be less?

I was going to vote whether this is normal or not but how do I know if I fit your criteria? All I own is a pair of crummy shoes and a half crooked smile

Because America is about FREEdom. Everything is free. Free benefits, free money, free sex, free voting, cheap ammunition, reasonably priced guns for everybody. Nobody gets deported. Why do you think everybody wants to come to the USA?

Just don't get sick or go to college. Those two activities cost fortunes.

I completely agree with the owning land part. Nowadays everyone gets to vote, and the result? Well, you can see the poor and unproductive exploiting the productive by voting in parties that overtax the middle class. It creates a conflict of interests.

The voting age should also be raised to at least 25.

And women shouldn't have the right to vote either along with what you've said that should straighten the system up some.

Yup. Not only that, but women should also be prohibited from entering politics as they are completely unfit for such positions.
It's strange how women have the right to vote, yet they not only express zero interest in political matters, they are completely intellectually detached from the whole phenomenon, except when, on rare occasions they do try to engage in debates by expressing their appreciation for their beloved sunny boy phaggot Justin Trudeau. It's really cute how everything of real importance seems to fly over their pretty little heads. You can find your token female loner on political forums trying to sound eloquent but other than that, they spend their free time (which they seemingly have a lot) on make-up and fashion forums cackling about teenage soap operas.

Anyway, there's more burning issues pressing this clusterfuck of a country as of now.
While we're at it, I gotta say I changed my mind in regards to Trump. I was initially on the fence about him, but upon further investigation, came to the sad conclusion that he's nothing but a Jewish shill, exactly like the others. We will be fighting more wars for Israel regardless of who gets into office. IsraHELL is America's eternal little protegee and our tax money will cheerfully be spent on expanding their territory in the middle east. Europe will of course collect all the human garbage left behind, as they are nothing but a dumping ground for American war residue.

Why was that weasel Netanyahu even allowed a speech in congress???
        ...

America won't be a free country until it cures itself of the Jewish poison. Then we can talk about progress.

White males aged 25 - 50 should be the ones who can vote only.

The rest are just the dumb underclass, and their opinion doesn't matter, it would just be an uneducated stab in the dark for them.

Wow, nice bigotry you got there. You must've dug through the garbage for hours to find those two lines!

Well, there are plenty of countries that do what you suggest. It is for better or for worse. But that's not America. Really the only way to narrow it down would be to use income or level of education. But then you don't represent a big part of the population.

I actually think that the smaller elections at the state and city levels carry more weight for most people. Those things can actually impact people's lives a noticeable amount. So, I don't really agree that the national elections carry more weight, if that's what you are trying to say.

The whole point of elections is that everyone who is a citizen gets a say. If you live here and are in good standing, you get a say. For the people and led by the people. Something like that, right? How can you have a government that is ran by the people if you exclude a huge amount of people from having the opportunity to have a say?

America is not about what "SHOULD" happen. What "THE BEST" decision is... the whole point is that it is about freedom and equality of opportunity. We could just put the smartest people, the most deserving people in power and be led to a Utopian society, but that is not the premise of our country... so that is why we have elections, and that is why we see what we see right now.
