Is it normal i think some crazy people aren't that crazy?

I'm not talking about psychopaths, stalkers, killers etc but the mad scientist, the crazy inventor, the eccentric artist.

The first human to think of cave art was probably thought to be crazy. "What's that lunatic doing now?" The same with the first human to try and put language into writing. Can you imagine what the world would be like if these things hadn't caught on?

Then there's a string of artists and scientists who were considered crazy at the time. But their ideas have shaped our development and understanding of the world today.

I've met a lot of people who were considered crazy or 'out there' and they're actually more down to earth, logical and thought provoking than those considered 'normal'. Nobody listens to them because society writes them off as crazy. This doesn't apply to everyone but yeah.

No, there usually seems to be a distinct difference between insane actions/ideas and actions/ideas that are actually innovative/purposeful.

"society" is insanity, so the sane people are the crazy ones.

I think in the instances you have mentioned crazy is just a figure of speech.
