I just think, fix the problem.
Don't band aid it.
When a gang member is put in jail.
They just become part of the gangs that run most prisons.
In some cases they still run gang action from inside prison.
Bottom line, would you join a gang if you knew it would mean the death penalty.
I'm just sick of this being an issue.
Before you argue compassion.
I have more compassion for the many lives saved long term, then for the few lives it costs in the short term.

That wouldn't solve anything. Gang members could die just from gang activities and most if not all gang members know that. I believe the prison system needs to be reformed. I don't think a prison should be just to lock someone up for a crime and then release them. There should be more systems in place to ensure that individuals don't feel the need to commit more crimes in the future. Killing people for gang related crimes won't solve anything in the long run.

    What exactly happened recently or whenever that brought this up?
    
    Aside law enforcement or maybe the government, most people, after having reached adult age, do not even think of gangs. Or if they do, they don;t get so heated about it.
    
    I was talking to a friend a while back about some of these gang members and their silly street names. Things like p-daddy, g-slice, home dawg... I once saw some white guy who thought he was black, called himself J-hood. Good god.
    She said she believes at the center of all this "gangster" BS was a sense of hopelessness.
    
    I couldn't care less about gangs either way. They are not at my door step and just not something I think about. Whether they live or die makes no difference to me.

    Looking for solutions to a problem is good. Nobody's saying there's not a problem, we're telling you this isn't a solution to the problem here.
    
    Killing gang members is still a band aid. The solution to the problem is to stop people from joining gangs in the first place...and trying to scare them out of it won't work, because whatever is motivating them to join a gang in the first place will still be there. The solution is to stop people from wanting to crime in the first place. Why do people turn to crime? Usually because they're desperate and have no other hope.
    
    They can't get a job...maybe because they can't pass a drug test because they like to smoke something that should be legal or because they lack an education because they dropped out of school for any number of reasons.
    Or they can't keep a job...maybe because they have a kid or a sick parent they have to take care of, or they're sick themselves, or because they're trying to go to school while they work.
    Or their job doesn't pay enough because minimum wage is too low.
    
    You want solutions? Ensure everybody can get the education they need - quality public schools through high school and free or affordable college. Ensure everybody who works full time earns a livable wage. Decriminalize marijuana. Give everybody affordable, quality health care so they're healthy enough to work. Give young people proper sex education to reduce teen pregnancies and ensure paid maternity leave and affordable child care to people who do get pregnant. Eliminate the wage gap and all forms of discrimination.
    
    There's some solutions for you.

As much as I hate gangs and I won't really care if they all died off or not and I'm somewhat ok with the death pentaity.

But I don't think giving the government another reason to expand on the corruption it already has.

Think about it there needs to be massive reform before we even think about letting the government take up a job like that.

Because our current one wouldn't know where to begin and how to stop.
