It's not a cake. It's not a sweetened leavened bread with icing. It is usuall a filling within a crust. Shouldn't it be called 'cheese pie'?
Oh God. Jamaican Chocolate Cheese(pie). It's honestly the most beautiful thing in the world and I would trade my mother for a slice.
I'm surprised by how many people dislike it - I thought everyone loved it. Cheesecake is always right when it's in my mouth, I don't care what it's called.
The main reason why they classify it as a cake is due to the past history of Greeks calling it cake. They also say that eggs are the leavening agent in it, although in my thoughts it's not exactly but they do help solidifying the cake when baked.
I love cheesecake as it tastes so good and to me it is the correct name because it is more a cake than a pie. A pie has a top over the filling, since cheesecake does not it should be called a cake.
On second thought, there's something dirty sounding about "cheesepie". It's like the nickname of a kinky activity.
Maybe its more like a tart? No, see the crust is a big issue here. This is just all sorts of wrong.
Whether its "cheesecake" or "cheese pie" matters not because they will taste the same once they are inside me.
America has its own special way of screwing things up like that. Contradictory food-naming is our trademark.
Cheese pies already exist; it's Greek filo crust filled with cheese. Those are really good actually. But yeah I know what you mean, cheesecake is more like a pie or a tart than a cake. You wrote that so dramatically haha
You are right. It makes me think of a tart. Yeah I don't think it would really count as a cake. I love cheesecake.
Don't know about that but .. i find cheesecake disgusting anyway .. ffs it's cream cheese with a pie crust & sweet filling .. how grose is that .. !
