Is it normal i sometimes don't recognize people i know?

I'm not old and I can't figure out why this happens so often. I will see someone I know and it takes me about3-5 minutes to recognize them. Not only with people I haven't seen in a while, I did this with a cousin and my boyfriends dad( three times!) I just look at them and no lightbulb goes off. I have no idea why this happens is it normal or is there something wrong with me?

    Happens to me sometimes but it's usually with a cashier or someone else who I always see at work in a store then when I see them in regular clothes in a different setting it confuses me for a minute.

    I do this somewhat. My brain just kind of generalizes people, like when I'm in a new class or start a new job. If two people in the setting look slightly similar, I tend to confuse them for one another for a while. After about a month or so they look completely different to me and I wonder how I ever confused them.

    If I haven't seen certain people in a while, unless I was pretty close to them or they have some very distinct feature(s), I either don't remember them or think they're someone else/some stranger is them.

    I've heard of more potent forms of this condition commonly referred to as Face-Blindness. Start there.
