Is it normal i seriously have plans to live in the woods

I seriously have plans that one day, about 20 years in the future, I am leaving my job and moving to the wilderness to live off deer that I'll hunt with a home fashioned spear, live in a hut made of sticks, and eat various types of grub that can be found in the wild. Also, when I do this, I will bring bottles and bottles of booze and enough weed to last a lifetime.

Go read "Into the Wild" about Christopher McCandles. It's a good way to die, even if you do know what you're doing.

The movie is worth a watch, too.

Although I didn't go away from it thinking it was a good way to die - rather that people unprepared and alone will probably not last long in the wilderness.

Hahaha. I meant a good way to get yourself killed. I suppose I phrased that poorly!

I never saw the movie; I'll have to check it out. The book has a few chapters on other people who died attempting to live on their own in the wild as well.

Funny that, I was about to reference McCandles.

A lot of hippies in the 60s and 70s thought the same way. Most of them returned to their life in suburbia after a few years because living off the land was nothing like what they'd imagined it would be.

20 years is a long time to wait. Get backpack camp gear, a fly fishing rod and get out there right now at least on the weekends. There is indescribably pristine beauty along the continental divide in the northern US and Canada.

When you get tired of hunting deer. Y'all can try bagging a gator or two in Florida swamps or Northern Australia. Gator tail is good eatin.

Haha! You're surely in your teens. Remember that in twenty years you would probably have a wife (because I assume you are a boy) and children and their opinion will count. Even if you still have this dream at this time it would be difficult to make it come true. But it doesn't hurt to dream, does it?

This is a fantasy in various forms on the main theme for a lot of people...but it is way harder than it looks...most people settle for living in the country....if you are serious...camping, hunting amd fishing is the first step....with longer and longer trips to more remote places and less provisions over time...dont underestimate, camping, hunting and fishing...if you do master these things you really can begin to live in the wild...but there is always the need for some degree of socialization ...watch the dick proebekker series alone in the wilderness
