Is it normal i remember being a baby?

As a 30 year old man I have held onto memories from when I was a baby. One thing I think that helped me hold onto these memories is that my parents videotaped me regularly on the Betamax. I have been able to watch those videos of myself my entire life and the usual reminders have helped me even remember things that weren't recorded. I remember diapers and baby food and I remember riding my dog and learning the abc's which I knew very early. I also remember some injuries and vivid memory of my second birthday. I remember the following day I thought it was my birthday again. I remember events on the tapes too.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but I think that rehearing stories all the time and seeing old videos kinda plants a "memory" that isn't exactly real. We just know the story so well, we think we remember it.

But I could be wrong. I'm hardly an expert.

Actually, those are false memories as visual memories aren't formed before age 4 because that part of the brain isn't developed yet.

No, it's 4 and always has been. Where'd you get that young age from?

    • I'm pretty sure I have a lot of visual memories before then. I would believe most peoples brain hadn't developed but my visual memory is probably in the 99.99 percentile.

To give an example when I was about 4 I was in the car with my parents visiting an aunt out of state. I identified her car while in random traffic and my parents said it wasn't her car and it turned out it was her and I recognized the license plate which had been put on another car.

I also knew the alphabet at 9 months (I couldn't say it but I could put the cards in order) and could put together a map puzzle of the united states upside down when I was about 1 or 2.
