Is it normal i react differently to racism depending on race of the propagator

For some reason, when people scream racist remarks against my ethnicity, I react differently to it depending on the race of the person who said the racist remarks.

I'm Asian, and I tend to be very offended when a white or black person says something racist against my ethnicity, yet when people from other Asian ethnicities do I don't feel as offended. For example, I would feel very offended if an Englishman or a Nigerian said dehumanizing things about my ethnicity, but I would just shrug it off if a Korean or a Vietnamese does.

I do believe that all races are equal, but is it normal to feel this way?

propagator...ha...I think you meant perpetrator. I'm a white guy ripping on your mistake so I hope you take it seriously.

Some basic social psychology for you. In-group vs Out-group. You view other asians as your In-group, and any remarks they make against asians are self-deprocating humour, or commiseration, and remarks by non-asians "out-groups" as attacks on or mockery of asians.

It is normal, but that does not make it right. No matter what your race, no one should be doing that. But we are all human, so we do it anyway.

We don't do it because we're human, we do it because we're taught to do it

I voted normal only because I'm the same way. I'm white and when I hear a black person or hispanic say something racist aimed at my ethnicity, I get very offended. If an Itallian said something racist aimed at my ethnicity, I wouldn't take it serious. I'm not sure if other people are like this but it seems like they would be.

Yes it's normal to react this way.

  • To notice racism one would have to seperate race in their head in the first place in order to recognise it.

All people are racist by default, especially the ones who go around calling others racists and getting all worked up, because they distinguish it very quickly and easily. Guilty parties will often make the first move.

You a dang racist, dey all is, we all is, all is.
