Is it normal i prefer to wear old shoes with holes in?

It's been like this for as long as I can remember. My shoes will start falling apart and get holes in them and I won't get new shoes for months. I can afford new shoes but I don't want any. When I get new ones, I still prefer to wear my old broken shoes even if it's raining. I'm currently only wearing my new shoes in the hope they'll get dirty and start falling apart. They're too clean and it's bothering me. People think this is strange.
