Is it normal i'm tired of people loosely using the " i love you" phrase?

More and more people are too loosely saying "I love you"! I'm tired of it because I'm one to only use it if I actually mean it! So I don't go throwing it around like majority do these days. I think it's ridiculous and it looses its meaning because people simply have obviously forgotten its meaning. It also doesn't have any meaning when over used.

This is one of those grey areas that really depends on the person and his/her personality.

Sometimes it's tough to tell love as an emotion from love as a word.

Certain people will use it to describe something casually while others will legitimately mean it and only use it when it evokes strong emotions.

In that respect it is hard and therefore normal for any confusion to happen. If someone --- in a certain context --- told me they loved me I would probably react as if it was legitimately affectionate versus a "I'm glad you think I'm cool" type of way.

Then again, context is important as well. If someone said "I love you" after a funny joke versus after you said good night to them, it's different. And it also depends on what relationship you have to the person. If it's someone you have romantic feelings for...yeah, that can get a bit tricky.

Im someone that is mature enough to be able to love someone (none family members) and have it not be a romantic love.

I agree in a romantic setting it can be a different matter, but i have a number of female friends that i love platonicly and maybe under the right setting romanticly but that isn't how my relationship with them is built on

You can love people in a none romantic way, you can love a persons personality, you can love your family.

Yes. Totally agree. People who do that don't know the meaning of love or they are just faking it and enjoying the attention they get back.

It really hurts when you find out they didn't really mean it, but you already said it back and did.
