Is it normal i'm reluctant to spend money on myself because others might need it?

I never treat myself because of this. It's my money. I worked for it but because I know someone in my family will need to borrow I'm always too scared to spend anything. I'm basically just a bank account for them.

My grandmother does this. It's led to one of her daughter's just flat out stealing from her in her old age.

You earned your money and unless you're talking about a spouse and kids, you have no responsibility to look after them.

If you're able to help them, and they're appreciative of it, then that's a very kind thing for you to do. But you have every right to spend your money on yourself.

Don't think of others before yourself. You should spend your money coz you worked hard for it.
And if you are so unto helping them, you could put away a small percentage like 10% for them.

I was about to be like you. I just give to charity, not family.
