Is it normal i'm racist ?

I don't hate specific nationalities, I just seem to like them less because of where they're from.. I don't want to feel this way but I do. For example, if one of my Arabic friends does something stupid I'll blame it on the fact that he's Arabic. I know it's not because of that but in the moment I just feel that way. And I really don't get along with Americans, never have. We don't see eye to eye. (I'm Canadian btw). I insult Americans more than any other. I have some serious issues with them but I want to get over it. Does anyone know how I can get over this? I'm sick of having mean thoughts about others for no valid reason

I don't think you know the difference between race and nationality. All of Canada is ashamed of you, eh?

If you have to ask if you're racist, I feel like 75% of the time that you're racist. If you're asking yourself that question

Don't listen to unsubstantiated opinions about human nature--those fatuous comments that claim knowledge of what's true or false. Humans are a judgmental animal, and more, we're clannist. It's part of our evolutionary heritage, and a characteristic we share with our closest genetic relatives.

We also tend to kill and steal and rape... But we don't encourage those natural behaviors because they undermine the coherence of societies. We're biologically inclined to find difference among our groups, and even to discriminate based on differences. As you know, in relatively modern history prejudice hasn't worked out well for humans. You sound smart and reflecting. At the least, I think you get that we can all be thoughtless, immature, irrational, or plain inane. No particular group is exempt from these.

I grew up in SoCal in a very culturally diverse space. But as a young teen girl I had a prejudice against transexuals--from what I'd seen in movies and online. My mom took me to her clinic's sexual and reproductive health outreach program and we volunteered together in a program for women who were transitioning to males. The more I got to know them, the more stupid my prejudice came to be to me.

It's hard, I think, to dislike a group you get to know really well. Because you see that we all really want the same things after all. Hope you figure it all out.

As strange as this might sound I don't have a problem with ppl having racist thoughts to me the problem is when ppl act on those thoughts. You really can't control how you feel tho maybe you can modify it over time but you can always choose how to behave.

TO be more clear I don't think its good to have racist thoughts but I can't be judgmental about how someone feels becos I know I have thoughts and feelings about some things that aren't really the politically correct way to be but I can't help how I feel even when I try to tell myself otherwise in my heart I still believe things that if I said them out loud some ppl would be offended.
