I'm an insecure guy, lets say I'm 21, and I can't even begin to flirt with girls unless I've had a few drinks. I'm just so uncomfortable and unsure that they will return the feelings that I have for them when I'm sober.

    If you flirt and feelings are not mutual who cares! it's not a wedding proposal. To build up your courage start flirting with the ugly chicks first. The good looking girls will usually have a ugly friend with.
    If you don't have confidence it might be because you're approaching women out of your league. Just be yourself and try to find someone you think you could have a blast with that's what's most important. If you're going after the best looking woman there other guys are too. Its true women like confident guys, for yourself and find someone that likes you for you.

    Well, people lose their inhibitions when they drink. So if it's normal for you to have your guards up and feel inhibited enough not to be able to flirt with girls when sober, then it's completely normal for you to be able to when you drink.

    I actually think it's quite common. I know of several people who get really nervous when it comes to flirting.
