Is it normal i laugh about stuff when i'm depressed?

Whenever something bad happens to my family, and someone wants to talk about it with me, I usually start laughing as I'm telling them my problems. For example, the other day, I was telling a friend that my Grandma couldn't remember who I was anymore because she has Alzheimer's disease and she is slowly loosing her memory. It's really sad, but for some reason instead of crying, which is what I felt like doing, I ended up laughing when I was telling her about it. It's not just that though, it's other stuff too. I think I have a serious problem. Or nah. Please tell me if this is at least close to normal!

it seems to be your way of coping. don't sweat it. let it all come out naturally.

    express yourself don't depress.
go ballistic, punch a squirrel in the face, move your body like a dancing queen, scream where no one else can hear you at the top of your lungs! go ham.
express whatever it is in your chest, and don't depress.

Many of us lose the ability to express ourselves fully because of societies conditioning and it's idea of "normal" or its perception of "strong". when we were kids, we would, cry, throw tantrums, scream, it was instincts, we were masters of removing negative emotions.

That's kind of ironic, because the other day, I was telling my friend about how my aunt was diagnosed with Parkinson's. My friend looked at me weird because I was smiling while telling her about it.(Don't worry, I wasn't happy about it, I always smile or laugh when I'm talking about something sad).

This is something I would worry about if I were you. Laughing and crying suits certain occasions and at some laughing is inappropriate, can be seen as offensive and can show a lack of empathy. Perhaps you are trying to deal with the stress of the situation in this way, but only you can tell what your real intentions are in doing this.
