I have not met any of these people but have heard about them and feel like I wish they would come back. Does anyone know anything about them and why they left? Is it actually possible to leave this place?
Dappled left because, like dom180 said, it was time for him to go. He was a great contributor, and a great friend too. I'm sure he might stop by from time to time, but he probably doesn't want to comment anymore or be an active part of the community. That's ok too, nobody should hold it against him.
Perhaps once or twice a year to see what you scamps are getting up to, but no more than that. He is happy, healthy, and spends a considerable amount of time exercising (and sleeping like a normal human being) and virtually no time drinking and bothering people on the internet, which is probably the best thing for everyone involved. He misses many of you and hopes you all find what you are looking for in life.
He also misses fighting with flutterhigh! We had the best time ever, even though neither of us would admit it. :)
I know. I miss dappled. He was awesome. And whatever happened to anime7? He disappeared, came back for a while as anime8, then disappeared again. :(*
They could both be super, but they left because it was time for them to leave and I'd be very surprised if either of them came back. This place takes its toll on people, especially people who were very invested into it.
They were good primarily because they put a lot of time and effort into their contributions here (making them original, entertaining, educational, self-aware etc.) over a long period of time and they both genuinely cared (or seemed to). They were both very smart, but that's secondary. I can think of several people here who are just as smart and capable.
I know I'm in a minority here but I never got what the big deal was about flutterhigh, not my type of humor i guess. there was a guy before him called Valkeer that was basically the same imo
I miss IcamesohardIcried! I remember he used to go around blowing loads everywhere, and then I would offer him a quart of Gatorade. Those were the days.

I also miss Tommythecat very much, and there was once a kindhearted guy who used to go on fart walks and try to educate the community about sharting.
Dear God, I hope those ferrets are well... I can only hope and pray.
And the most popular users tend to receive the most antagonism from people who resent their perceived status in the community.
So some people were driven away, I think.
