Is it normal i hate that ads/commercials are significantly louder than shows

Adverts are significantly louder than the actual programs (shows). I'm guessing they do it so you pay attention to them more, but it's so annoying! If you've got your TV set to a good level late at night (as not to wake anyone, suddenly, the adverts come on and it's like three times as loud!

Well, if you live in the United States, then you can actually report a loud commercial under the FCC CALM act. However, there are a lot of loopholes concerning volume, so I guess you should just keep your hand hovered over the mute button.

Yeah, I hate that too. They are trying to make that illegal. One local station here is notorious for being even louder than the others. Fuck you NBC 4.

First they used subliminal to avoid detection and repercussions. Now it's just blatant in your face begging. I try not buy anything that is openly trying to pressure sale "us" capitalism does NOT work in a free society (democracy) FACT

I like this attitude. Not much we are missing without TV except maybe Fox News, CNN, etc. Oh wait, those are loudmouth blithering idiots we don't like. Piss on that then.

There are only a few shows that I will watch a season of. But I haven't even had a tv for a few weeks now and I don't miss it at all. I'll get one but it will almost never be used.

It's normal. I've noticed that some channels are significantly louder than others and the trailers in movie theatres are deafening. It's a hazard to our ears.

This is why I dont have cable and love adblock. Still have to deal with billboards though, till I get my flame thrower jet pack. Stupid future, hurry up and get here!

I'm just sick to death of car insurance commercials. How many times a week does the average motorist change their fucking insurance anyway? Am I missing something?

All I get is life insurance/funeral cover ads. I love being constantly reminded that I'm going to die.

You should call the numbers assosciated and let them know you do not appreciate death threats. Tell them you can damn well threaten them too (but don't actually threaten them).

I saw a commercial for TV lawyers once where there were 3 lawyers holding baseball bats. I called up and asked them if their lawyers go around hitting people with bats? The lady was kind of taken aback, paused and said 'umm...no'. I replied that there was no way I'm gonna hire them for my case then and hung up.

I heard later that they pulled that ad after public outcry.

Perhaps I will, there's a lot of numbers I'd have to call though!

Hahaha lawyers with baseball bats... So professional.

Yeah, I believe a new law went into effect not too long ago that commercials couldn't do that anymore. At least, in my country anyway.
