Is it normal i get mad when people say its good to be retarted?

Like I go on facebook and a bunch of people are always posting pictures like "look at my retarted child/brother/etc and it's so beautiful and good that they're retarted" Like no its not a good thing Or then they want to raise money to support autism like no we need to make there be less autisim not trying to make people autistic Sometimes i wish i was retarted because they live such easy lives but its not good because its more work for everyone to take care of you

        • You sound like some kind of special ed lover. Do you think being retarted and not able to spell is good?

Sorry, I didn't read your entire post before replying.

Raising money for "Autism support" means support for the *people* with Autism, not the Autism.

That said, if it's Autism Speaks, stay away from that cult of bigots.

    • is there a cult that wants to make people autistic? I see all these parents of kids with downs syndrome saying they're happy to have a handicapped child

As someone who was denied treatment for my learning disability until college, I can think of very few things more revolting than a parent who *wants* they're handicapped kid to stay handicapped.

Loving your child despite what they can't help is normal and good, but saying you wouldn't want to cure your kid of something that stops them from being independent, living a real life, and being their real self, is dehumanizing and a sick kind of abuse IMO.

That said, I'm sure many of those parents don't really mean what they're saying. Society is so Big Brother when it comes to the mentally disabled, so much as saying "I love my kid but it's hard" can get the poor parents labeled as "ableist" and "evil." So many, maybe most, of the parents glorifying Down Syndrome or whatnot probably don't mean it; they're just overcompensating, for a society that likes to witch hunt anyone who says anything negative about the mentally disabled.

    • you dont want people to want to be autistic. Like people are like "oh im so happy that my kid is special ed isntead of normal, and i HATE normal kids" and its hard for the rest of us wo arent "special"
