Is it normal i find the duggar family creepy as hell

I don't like reality tv but my mom watches it sometimes. I saw that show about those crazy religious nuts named Duggar who have 19 kids(I think, maybe more!) They think its Gods mission for them to have as many kids as possible. The parents basically force the older kids to care for the babies meanwhile brainwashing them with homeschool and making them dress like Little House on the Prairie extras. The way the father looks at his daughters especially creepy...
Anybody else disturbed by this family?

I think your being harsh, Woman can chose to be submissive and it's not like Jim Bob's a wife beater.
The kids will grow up so repressed that when they do get there first taste of VJ or D and probably all end up doing porn, so, alls well that ends well.

Yes, I think it's way creepy, even abusive. The kids aren't really encouraged to follow their dreams or go away to college, just to stay in the family and "serve God". I'm not an atheist or anti-Christian, I just hate the attitude that you should be passive in life and just do whatever is expected of you because whatever happens to you is "part of God's plan". Plus with a family that big, I doubt they ever get any individual attention. Plus their dating rules are just so bizarre and controlling. They say that you should only date someone with the intention of marriage (??), 17-19 year olds that need chaperones on dates, parents get to read all text messages, no hand holding until you're engaged, "side hugs", etc. I'm not making this shit up. With that many kids, one of them is bound to be LGBT and that's gonna be really tough on them.

My mom thinks so too, but I don't get why, they seem nice enough.. But you never know about people who have cameras on them that often..
