Is it normal i dont want spend christmas with family?

My ma got remarried awhile ago. I try to tolerate her husband but he can sometimes get difficult. He has this thing where he wont let anyone eat anything unless they pitch in for it. If My mother decides to make Christmas dinner I dont know if she is going to let everyone help cook or pay for it. So I dont know if ill actually be able to eat any without feeling guilty. I dont want to have to eat my mothers cooking and be punished for it later.

    That's not family, that's fascism. I'd stay away too, even though I'd like nothing more than to be having X-Mas dinner with family and friends.
    I'm dreaming of a white Christmas, but it is NOT going to be :(
