Is it normal i don't want to talk to my grandparents on phone?

I don't have anything against them, their sweet people but honestly talking to them through the phone is so awkward. They basically live on the other side of the world which makes the phone echo/static and it's really hard to tell what their saying.

They are also very old and talk quietly, they also have an accent which makes it really hard to talk to them. My dad wants me to talk to them though, and has been ringing them but I go to bed early just so I don't have to.

Talk to them while you have the opportunity to do so. Hearing your voice would make their day that little bit brighter. Just to hear you talking from the other side of the world would bring joy. Talk slower, listen harder. Make time stop rushing, take more of an interest in them, less in yourself and stop being such a selfish little twit. I would give almost anything to talk with my grandparents regardless how bad the line or heavy their accent. It's ten minutes out of your day that would totally be the highlight of theirs, so pay your respect.

I lost my first grandparent when I was five and my last one at 39. I would give anything to see and talk to them all! My maternal grandparents were Colombian and I never learned Spanish, but if I had to do it all over again knowing what I know now I would have tried to learn more from all of them.

Nothing lasts forever, appreciate gramps while ya got em.

Not knowing your grandparents well before they die sort of puts a void on the rest of your life. My grandfathers were both dead before I was born. It has always bothered me that I never knew them.

Instead of low quality talking, send them smart phone video clips sometimes of yourself doing sports or something that interests you. Be creative. It will get them into 21st century communications.

Talk to them. It means more to them than your discomfort means to you.

Both my grandparents are dead. I miss their stories, wisdom, perspectives born of a different time with different experiences.

You too will be old one day, possibly with ungrateful grandchildren of your own. Karma is a bitch. Best appease her.

I think you meant to say both your grandfathers. Because everyone has 4 grandparents: 2 grandfathers and 2 grandmothers :)
