Is it normal i don't want to go see my girlfriend's favorite band play live?

She hasn't asked me but I expect her to (even though I don't want her to). One of her favorite bands is playing and I know she wants to go see them but I don't. I can't stand the music she listens to. I would not have fun if I went. She definitely plans on going with at least one of her friends, so it's not like she would go alone if I turned down the offer. Also, it's not like I would be mad if she didn't want to go see my favorite band play live. She's not a big fan of my kind of music anyway.

    I can't imagine being so turned off a band that I would refuse to go with a partner or a friend who wanted me to go with them (unless it was really expensive). I can't really make myself hate music that much. That said: if you do feel that strongly, then just don't go. Make sure you don't sound dismissive of the band or trivialising of her love for them; if you do she might be annoyed.

    EDIT: By the way, if you go in with an open mind and no expectations you might have more fun than you think. You don't necessarily have to love a band's recorded music to have fun at their live show.

        Never heard of them and to answer your question, yes it is normal because I'm the same and my girfriend hates some not all of the music I listen to and I don't like some music she listens too!

    I think you're normal to not want to go. I went to a small gig once with a friend because she loved the band and wanted to have a night out. I had an open mind going in, but I hated the music so much I got a wicked headache, one of the worst I can remember. If you go, bring some heachache medicine with you.

    I like some really bad music, and I know it. I would never be offended if my boyfriend didn't want to accompany me to a concert because he wasn't a fan. I'd only be offended if he was being rude about telling me he didn't want to go. It think it's all in how you decline.
