Is it normal i don't understand why it's easy to be mean

I don't understand why it's so easy to be mean and seemingly difficult to be nice or at least neutral. I know this site isn't meant to be taken seriously but where is the enjoyment in causing pain in others? If someone were to make a post on here saying that they just found out they had cancer, I wouldn't be surprised to see a response like "lol sucks for you" or even "you deserve to die". I just don't get it. Is it not just as easy to give a neutral opinion about something or sincere advice? Why do people go out of their way to say the meanest thing possible. I think this is incredibly sad. Things shouldn't be this way.

    Meanness is very simple. It requires no thoughtfulness and a rude comment is about as simple minded as you can get.
    It takes thought to think of what would make someone feel good. Sometimes I have been told I am being mean when I thought I was being helpful. Doing something nice takes effort because you need to think of what would make someone happy and put yourself in their situation.

    People are angry or hateful for many reasons. By trying to make others feel the pain they feel, I guess it makes some people feel better.

    Like you, I don't get it. I think those people are cowardly. I don't take my anger out on others, and I hope to make others feel better about themselves, not worse.

    I agree and they should be at least neutral, but also you have to be neutral as the OP and don't let the bad stuff get to you... but I guess everyone comes from a different place in life and some people have a harder time to be nice...

    I don't find it easy. But maybe some people read me wrong. And maybe some people are really painfully stupid and mean thoughts just spill from my fingers because my patience is gone.

    I do not suffer fools.
