Is it normal i don't see the point in seperate gender toilets and bathrooms?

I think everybody knows that in public places there are often seperate toilets, bathrooms, changing cabins and things like that for men and women. Maybe it's just me, but I don't see the point in it. Why does it have to be seperate, why can't we just use it together? I don't see it.

I mean, at home we got a toilet and a bathroom that is being used by both men and women, and there's never any problem. Then why would there be a problem in a public place?

I avoid public bathrooms, but if I ever had to use one, I wouldn't want to do it around men. I dunno why, it might be different for everyone.

I agree, I think it's very silly. There's nothing inappropriate about taking a piss in the same room as people of the other sex and I can't imagine what about it would make anyone feel uncomfortable.

Society should all poop together to show that we are equal.

I think we should have 3 bathrooms. Male, female, and unisex. And the unisex one should only be one roomed.

I agree about the unisex one being one roomed. There should also be two toilets so that two people can go at the same time! Male or female, cause, you know, it's unisex. With no walls either cause we're all related in some way, shape or form.

But Transgenders would feel unsafe... I really think it should be separate. :/ just for those folks who are afraid of the normal bathrooms.

I kind of agree. When I was in school the only bathroom on my floor was a girl's one, so one day I just started using it to see if it caught up and we could all agree that we would share that bathroom. I don't feel like getting into too much detail here about how it turned out, let's just say law enforcement didn't get involved, but the outcome wasn't really that far from that.

it's to prevent sexual harassment. Not all men are safe, some are crazy. they might notice a women through the crack of the door and attack her when noomes around. Plus girls all go in there and starts makeuping themselves and theyed probably use up all the mirrors lol

  • It would be funny to hear someone taking a huge dump and at first you are sure its a man but instead a dainty woman walks out like nothing happened and the whole bathroom smells like chick dump.

Back when I was in high school my then-boyfriend and I were in school on Sunday because he owed his coach another hour in the weight room before he could be considered to start that week. After he got done, I asked him to walk with me down to my locker on the other end of the building so I could get my geometry book which I had forgotten to take home. Since there was no one around, he said he had to crap and he invited me in to keep him company.

I was surprised that no stall had a door and he seated himself so shamelessly on the stool. I walked to the other end of the room, and was looking at the urinals when I heard his crap plopping into the water. I asked him about his privacy, and he said all the school toilets had been like than since 1st grade. I was in amazement that he had adjusted so well to it. And he said he crapped most days at school. OMG!

I not sure. Maybe its the fact some men and women use the public rest room to strip. Least as far as School bathrooms are concerned. I not sure why they have different bathrooms but I do not think a male would be comfortable using the urinal in front of other women.

Yes, people use the restroom to strip. Its more done for people who are in sports and gym class. Girls do it and men do it. Though I don't think its that much of an issue for males to be seen shirtless by people. Since guys generally don't give a hoot who sees them naked. Are you afraid of changing in front of other women Charli? Some people get naked in the car too on there way to sports and things like that. They will strip down to underwear while someone is driving and put on a uniform.

I suppose I read this question as more about public toilets rather than school change rooms. On account of us all beong adults here.

Why are you so interested in my undressing habits? I shower fully clothed, FYI, you can never be too careful ya know.

So what you take showers in a swimsuit? I said public restrooms. They have public restrooms in schools, gym, sport fields, and in town. So I was including everything. People don't seem to really care.

"Public" to me indicates open to the public. School bathrooms are only open to...the school population, one would hope.

I shower fully clothed from neck to ankle. Anything else would be indecent.

"People don't seem to really care."

              Huh?

A toilet in your house is different than a toilet in a public place.

In your house you know who's been there. Not only that, but when you're home usually there's only one toilet and so you're alone. Unless, of-course, the men in your house gather in the bathroom frequently enough to listen to you use it daily. And even if they did, it's still different than a male stranger.

In a public place they are separate because the genders are different and they are strangers to you. Some are OK with using the toilet in-front of a stranger of an opposite gender. Others want more privacy, and making it gender specific is as private as you can get outside of your house.

Reallyyyy?? Well, shoot, I was leaving the door open all these years. Now that I know what stalls are for I'll close it next time.

Exactly that's the reason why your previous post makes no sense.

I don't know if you know this, but stalls are different from a room. And there is more to privacy than the inclosed area one takes a dump in. Thus gender specific bathrooms.

Okay, I don't like public bathrooms in general and I heard that bathrooms for women are often dirtier. Still, I asked this question very often. I think it's somewhat obsolete, but still managed to survive in our modern days.

I've heard the opposite - that men's bathrooms are dirtier.

Where? Men have a certain tool that helps them to aim their pee. Women don't. Easy explanation, makes sense, doesn't it?

When I was in Europe, I used a few unisex bathrooms. It was a novelty to use a urinal with women and girls in the same room. One time, a mother and her daughter were at the sink right next to the urinal that I was pissing into. They are used to it, and don't think a thing about it. After a few times, I was fine with it and realized that it's just peeing. There is no big secret about it. I am in favor of unisex bathrooms in the U.S.

I would NOT be comfortable with that. I have heard many disgusting stories about guys peeing on floors/wanking in public toilets. No way am I putting up with that.
