Is it normal i don't know the difference between transgender and transsexuals?

I am curious because I'm trying to broaden my knowledge re sexuality and sexual orientation.

I want to know the difference between Transgender and Transsexuals?

From my understanding, Transgender is when you feel you are the opposite sex to which you are. Transsexual is a person who actually undergoes surgery in order to become the opposite sex.

For example Kate Kardashian must have felt Transgender most his life since he always felt like he was a woman deep down.
Years down the track he comes out about it and undergoes surgery in order to become a woman hence becoming a transsexual?

Am I right?

Both terms can be used interchangeably, but now days, the term transsexual is aligned more with the porn industry (pre-op/non-op Male to Female individuals). Most Transgender people will tell you they prefer the term transgender. Some may even find the term transsexual offensive.

From what I understand transsexual, while not offensive is becoming a somewhat dated term, but the two are synonymous.

Both can be with or without surgeries.

As far as I was aware, transexual and transgender meant the same thing. Sex and gender mean the same so the two terms both mean someone whose body displays characteristics of both sexes/genders.

You could have a man with a vagina e.g. Dicky Johnson or you could have a woman with a penis e.g. Caitlin Jenner. Both terms are acceptable for the purpose of describing such individuals, to my knowledge.
