Is it normal i contacted disability services at my work and...

So I'm really ill at the moment health-wise and need to take temporary disability leave from my work. My coworkers and managers all know this and expected me to be taking it the first week of July until the mid of August. I called the man who is in charge of disability and he said it would be fine, that I just need to include the doctor's note and fill out the form. I said how long should that take, he said I should receive it in within 4-5 days. It is now three weeks. I've called twice and he wasn't there, I left a message, he didn't call back.

It's getting close to the point where I was supposed to take off as I am literally unable to work right now. I had to reschedule the doctor's appointments and everything just because of this delay. On top of that, the way disability works, you only get as much money that you made in the past 8 weeks. Next week (the week I should be getting off), my manager had to cut my hours and I'm working half the amount as usual. This will effect how much I receive for disability and is not right.

is it normal that this person is ignoring me and didn't send out the paperwork?

Good luck, after breaking my spine I was denied for disability. In fact the disability office on the phone asked me if I was black or pregnant. My advice to you is to start borrowing money or take it out of your 401k. Because the worst mistake you can make is believing your government actually cares about you.

Yeah, Americans are slaves I hear you man. My uncle broke his back and his arm a few years ago and was unable to do his job as a construction worker. He needed several months to heal but they denied him twice. I never understand how some people who fake disabilities and are completely 100% healthy get it while others don't. I feel like it's just ridiculous. He couldn't afford to take off so he had to keep doing it with a broken back and arm because he couldn't afford to stop working and had to get my father to help him.

I would seek the assistance of Human Resources if this guy isn't there. They should be aware of the policies around disability payments.

Also keep records of your attempts of contacting this person and any responses you get. That is why I always send an email before I call OR I acknowledge the phone call on an email stating what was said on it and send a copy to the person that you spoke on the phone and have them acknowledge it with a reply.

Most importantly - if you are using your work emails to communicate with this person, SEND a copy back to your personal email.
